There is a separate 9 bedded self contained Elderly Mentally Infirm (EMI) unit within the Nursing Home called The Meadows.   This unit is secured with double doors requiring entry of a pin number for opening. The unit has its own lounge with a large plasma screen TV, a separate dining room and an aquarium. The Meadows  is beautifully decorated throughout.   Staffing   The EMI unit is run by a Registered Mental Health Nurse with extensive experience in caring for residents with dementia. The Nurse in Charge is supported by a small team of care assistants who have undergone appropriate training with regard to caring for residents with dementia. These members of staff work almost exclusively in the EMI unit thereby building confidence, trust and understanding between residents and staff.
